A MemCOMPLETE Grant serves as additional funding that can cover costs outside of tuition and mandatory fees. Determining eligibility and requesting a grant is simple! To qualify, a student must:

1. Be eligible for a Federal PELL Grant. This is based on a student’s Student Aid Index (SAI) as determined by the 2025-2026 FAFSA. Please ask your Knox Promise COMPLETE Coach or the financial aid office at your college for clarification if you are unsure.

2. Be eligible for TN Promise.

3. Be enrolled as a full-time student.

4. Be eligible for additional financial aid as determined by your institution.

5. Complete the MemCOMPLETE Grant form in its entirety, including necessary documentation.

6. Connect with your MemCOMPLETE Coach.

Qualifying students can be awarded up to $1,000 per academic period (periods reset Aug. 1, Dec. 1 and May 1 if funding is available).

MemCOMPLETE Grants help students address financial barriers that may prevent them from staying enrolled and on track to graduate. Grants may be used to assist with the categories listed below.

Important: Proper documentation is required for all MemCOMPLETE Grant requests. Incomplete requests or missing documentation will result in denial.

Required for All Grant Requests

All MemCOMPLETE Grant requests must include:

• A screenshot of your current class schedule

• Your full name clearly visible

• The current academic term

• Confirmation that you are enrolled full time

This screenshot can be taken directly from your student portal, but it must clearly show your name and the term.

Additional documentation required for each grant category is listed below.

Transportation to School

(Gas, Uber/Lyft E-Gift Card, or Bus Pass)

Required Documentation:

Award Details:

• A $100 e-gift card will be awarded upon approval.

• Gas e-gift cards will be sent to the email provided on the grant request.

• If approved for a bus pass, a MemCOMPLETE Coach will contact you using the information provided in your application.

Grocery Gift Card

Required Documentation:

Award Details:

• A $100 e-gift card will be awarded upon approval.

• Grocery e-gift cards will be sent to the email provided on the grant request.

Computer

Required Documentation:

• Screenshot of class schedule showing full-time enrollment

Award Details:

• tnAchieves provides a standard computer unless your program requires specific specifications.

• The computer will be shipped to the mailing address listed on your grant request.

Supplies / Tools

Required Documentation:

• Screenshot of class schedule showing full-time enrollment

• Screenshot of syllabus showing required materials

• Link to an Amazon wish list or Home Depot/Lowe’s cart containing required items

Award Details:

• tnAchieves will purchase approved supplies/tools.

• Items will be shipped directly to the mailing address provided on your grant request.

Rent / Utilities

Required Documentation:

• Screenshot of class schedule showing full-time enrollment

• Screenshot or photo of a signed rental agreement and/or utility bill showing:

  • Student name

  • Amount owed

Payment Information Required (if approved):

• Vendor name

• Mailing address for payment

• Account number (if applicable)

• Any additional details required for payment processing

Important Notes:

• tnAchieves will only pay the portion owed by the student requesting funding.

• If you have roommates, request only your portion of rent.

• Rent/utility payments may take up to 10 days to process and deliver. Request funding well in advance of the due date.

• Rent grants can only be paid through an online portal via credit card.

• Some portals do not allow partial payments. If partial payment is not accepted, your request may be denied.

Textbooks

Required Documentation:

• Screenshot or photo of syllabus listing required textbooks and ISBN numbers

• Link to an Amazon wish list containing required books

Award Details:

• tnAchieves will purchase approved textbooks.

• Books will be shipped to the mailing address provided on your grant request.

Class-Specific Fees

Required Documentation:

• Screenshot or photo of student account showing fees owed

Award Details:

• tnAchieves will submit payment directly to the college upon approval.

MemCOMPLETE Grants cannot be used to reimburse expenses that have already been paid. Funding is provided through e-gift cards or paid directly to the vendor, meaning students will never receive cash, a check, or money deposited directly.

Grant requests must be for specific, documented expenses within the approved categories listed above. Requests for broad or undefined needs (such as “general life expenses”) will be denied.

If you are requesting support in multiple categories, you must submit a separate request for each category. This can still be completed within the same form by selecting “yes” at the end of your first request to submit an additional one.

For example, a student requesting $100 for transportation and $450 for textbooks must submit two separate grant requests.

Please do not submit the same request multiple times, as duplicate submissions may delay processing.
